Successful Puhoi Art Exhibition

Another successful year was enjoyed by Puhoi Art Exhibition. Having been postponed from March, it ran in November. Following successful preview evening we were proud to show over 120 artworks from 40-odd artists, with a broad range of media and subjects. Some, highlighting Puhoi's growing avante garde reputation, even a little controversial. A number of pieces were sold over the week, giving the Puhoi Centennial Hall funds a well-needed boost.

 

Sue Marcroft was the winner of the Best In Show award for her painting 'The Woolshed', as voted by attendees. Sue is a highly talented, emerging local artist who also sold all her paintings in the show. Winner of the prize draw from the winning voters was Steven Flaxman, a Puhoi local.

 

Some pieces are now on display at the Puhoi Gallery at 10a Ahuroa Road which opened on November 24. The gallery will be open every Thursday through to Sunday from 10.00 am during the busy Puhoi summer season. The gallery has a varied range of quality paintings, bronze and resin sculptures, stone sculptures and exquisite glass art jewellery.
