From Auckland by car

When travelling from Auckland to Puhoi you have a choice between using the Northern Gateway Toll Road - an extension of State Highway 1- or the free alternative.

 

Using Northern Gateway Toll Road

Take Northern Motorway 1 north. As you get out of the tunnel it's another kilometer to get to the Puhoi turn-off. Turn left to Puhoi and after one kilometer you're there.

Using a free alternative scenic route

Heading north towards Whangarei on State Highway 1, take exit 394 towards Orewa, the last exit before the toll road begins.

• take the first exit at the roundabout after 2 kilometer
• turn left at the traffic lights onto the Hibiscus Coast Highway after 1 kilometer
• After 9 kilometers you're back onto State Highway 1
• Turn left to Puhoi and after one kilometer you're there

From Whangarei by car

The Puhoi exit is approximately 15 kilometers south of Warkworth on State Highway 1.
